As Christmas approaches kids are giddy with excitement. It can be hard to get them to focus on anything other than carols, elves, presents and the like. That’s why I love to incorporate seasonal learning activities into the month of December. This Roll and Say Christmas ABC Game is a great way to channel some of that holiday excitement into learning in the classroom or at home during your Christmas theme activities. Roll and Say games are extremely easy to set up too, so you can have an educational game on hand to play without the hassle of extensive prep work!

To get started, simply print out the printable Roll and Say Christmas ABC game board and place it on a tray or on the table with a small Christmas-related manipulative.
The manipulative can be anything you want, as long as it is safe for your child to play with!
Then, get rolling! Have kids roll the manipulative across the game board, and name the letter it lands on (or lands closest to).
Let your kids have some fun with how they roll, they’ll love spinning or flicking the manipulative across the board for hours!
This Roll and Say ABC game is a great way to teach kids their ABCs without using systems like “letter of the week.”
For some sensory fun, try using a jingle bell as your manipulative!
The feel of the bell and the fun sounds it makes really add a lot to the experience, and makes kids love practicing the alphabet even more.
This Roll and Say ABC game is great at home, but it really shines in the classroom where kids can help each other learn!
Kids can partner up and take turns rolling and saying their letters, which helps reinforce the letter sounds in their growing minds. It would go great with any of these other Christmas Theme Preschool Activities for your classroom!

Don’t be afraid to let your child play with this Roll and Say game!
It might feel like they’re off track sometimes while they spin the manipulative around in their hand or try fun new ways of tossing it, but as long as they say their letters (or the letter sounds), they are getting in a ton of practice!
Letting them have fun keeps them focused and learning, not to mention happy!

Would you be able to make the ornaments editable? I would like to use this activity with sight words for my first graders.
Shaunna Evans
I’m sorry. I don’t think the terms of use on this clip art will allow me to make an editable version. I will add sight word versions to my list for the future though.
