As Veterans’ Day approaches I like to talk with my kids about the role the military plays in our country and the lives of military families. We’ve explored age-appropriate ways to teach young kids about Veterans’ Day in the past, and this free printable Thank You Veterans Military Easy Reader is one very simple way to teach kids about the branches of the military and say thank you to veterans. Use it for your Veterans’ Day activities in preschool or kindergarten.
Thank You Veterans Military Easy Reader
In this short video you can see the super simple cut and staple method you can use to put your easy readers together. It’s a huge time saver if you are preparing class sets of books. You can also see all of the pages included in the free printable.
The Thank You Veterans easy reader includes one page of thanks to each of the five branches of the military.
Kids can color each page and learn more about the uniforms and vehicles of each military branch. This can be done as a morning arrival activity, or you can have kids color as they listen to a favorite picture book about veterans.
Somehow I didn’t get a picture of two of my favorite pages in this free printable book, but you can catch a glimpse of them in the video above.
The first page is a special page that thanks military families. As I said before I like to include discussions of the lives of military families in our Veteran’s Day activities. I think it helps little learners make connections.
The book ends with a special page for kids to write a thank you note to veterans. I love seeing what kids have to say on this special page!

Where is the airforce? I would have loved ot have my Grand daughter give one to her Uncle Bebo; our airman.
I do appreciate your thinking of the veterans-it would just be nice if they all were represented.

Although it isn’t pictured here, the Air Force is included. It’s actually the first page after the cover. 🙂

I have tried two browsers to download the link to the free printable….and nothing. Goes to hourglass and just stays there.
Two computers, two operating systems, three or four browsers.

I’ve scrolled all the way through this and I can’t download the reader. My daughter is a Girl Scout who is teaching children about veterans (and interviewing them) for her Gold Award and I would very much like to download a reader but I can’t find the download button. Thanks!

This is the Thank You page, not the download page. The download was emailed to the email address you entered in the download form. Be sure to check any spam folders that may be set up under your email account, as often the free download emails are redirected there.
Stan
This is the only contact I could find. The download page, when clicked upon, gives an hourglass….and one hour later, it is still an hourglass.
