HOW TO PLAY

Grab a clipboard or let kids place their paper on the table or floor. Encourage kids to look throughout your home or classroom to find each alphabet letter as provided in this printable activity.

The trace it and write it recording sheets can be laminated or added to pouches so they can be used repeatedly and save paper.

As kids find each letter, have them trace it on their scavenger hunt page. This can be done independently or with a helper.

Tips and Ideas for Use

This is a great way to differentiate instruction easily. You can specifically target letters that a child or group of children is working on learning. All students do not need to work on the same letters simultaneously. When in doubt, start with the letters in the child’s name.

WAYS TO USE THE LARGE LETTER CARDS:

Use as a whole or small group activity where you (or another student) pull a card out of a stack and show it to students. Then, students find the letter on their recording sheet.
Display the letters around the room. Then, use it as a literacy center option where students find the letters around the room and fill out their response sheets.
If you let kids gather the letters, then have them display them again for the next group of kids. You can easily differentiate this option by having kids use different response sheet options.
Use them as a deck of cards face down and have kids pull from the stack to mark the letter they’ve found on their sheet.
