When March and April come around and beautiful flowers start to pop up everywhere and the leaves start turning green again, you can feel spring in the air. You also know Easter is on its way. If you’re looking to explore the many different aspects of Easter with preschoolers, we have a lot of Easter Theme Preschool Activities to get you started.

Here are some fabulous resources for planning your preschool Easter theme. Most of these activities are designed for kids ages 3 through 5, but many can be modified for younger and older kids as well.

Preschool Easter Theme Planning Guide with Lesson Plans and Easter Preschool Activities

WHY IT’S FUN

Easter is the time for colorful eggs, fluffy bunnies, delicious treats, and there is so much to do. Kids have so much fun doing Easter egg hunts, dying Easter eggs, and more.

WHEN TO TEACH AN EASTER THEME

Spring time is perfect for diving into Easter activities that can follow or be incorporated into your Spring themed activities. March or April specifically is the perfect time to incorporate egg or bunny learning theme as they are very symbolic of Spring and Easter.

Important note: This planning guide does not include the religious aspects of Easter. If you are looking for Christ-centered Easter activities, this resource will be helpful.

TEACHING TIPS & MAJOR CONCEPTS KIDS WILL LEARN

If you’re planning a preschool Easter theme there are many possibilities for incorporating meaningful early learning skills.

These are just some of the concepts kids can learn about during a Easter theme:

  • how to dye Easter eggs and learning about colors
  • life cycles of rabbits
  • life cycles of chicks
  • common Easter traditions
  • origin of Easter and it’s meaning

You can also use plastic eggs or other Easter themed trinkets and candies as manipulatives for many learning activities to teach math and literacy concepts.

ITEMS TO COLLECT AND REQUEST IN ADVANCE

If you get parents, friends, and family involved you can enrich the experience kids have during your preschool Easter theme.

Collect or ask people to help you collect:

  • colorful plastic eggs
  • colorful Easter grass
  • Easter baskets
  • jelly beans or other Easter candies
  • bunny headbands

You might even invite special guests (or go visit if you can) to come and share about fields and hobbies related to Easter. You could include:

  • a farmer that raises rabbits or chickens
  • a wildlife expert
  • a farmer that processes eggs
  • a baker to share a favorite Easter themed recipe
