Yesterday I shared how the preparation for this craft inspired Lovey, and we ended up with some lovely fireworks rings. This is the original craft I had planned. Add some sparkle to your holiday theme with these easy fireworks paintings using homemade fireworks paintbrushes and glitter paint.

For this activity you’ll want to make our fireworks ring crafts (or “fireworks paintbrushes” in this case). Learn how to make them in the video tutorial below.

Materials

  • Dark Paper-We used black card stock.
  • DIY fireworks paintbrushes (paintbrush tutorial)
  • Sparkly and metallic paints-We used metallic silver, metallic gold, and a mixture of red and glitter red.

As the girls started painting they spent a little time experimenting with the use of the fireworks paintbrushes. Lovey tried using them like a stamp and pressing straight down. This resulted in more of a flower-like creation.

Then she tried rolling the paintbrush. This gave it the most “firework-like” resemblance.  We also noticed that the less paint there is on the paintbrush the more realistic the fireworks looked as well.

Watch this video to see how we make the fireworks designs.

As you can see the girls had a lot of fun creating their fireworks paintings. They painted and painted and painted until they ran out of paint…and work space!
