I love to pop into Dollar Tree to see what new materials they have each season. I know I can always find something to inspire a new play activity. That’s why I am excited to be partnering with Dollar Tree to give you a sneak peek into the campaign.
Summer Fun is a NEW collection of colorful flip-flops, summer tableware, party supplies, toys, and more created to launch you into a fun-filled summer. And I spy some great products I know we’ll be using this summer!
Our Summer Fun Shopping List
I like to go to Dollar Tree before summer starts and grab all sorts of fun things to have on hand. That way I have all the materials for the activities we want to do, and we’re ready whenever the feeling strikes.
We don’t have a pool, but pool noodles always seem to come in handy anyway. We spray water through them and make them into water walls. Sometimes we cut them into smaller pieces to use as building blocks. Other times we cut them in half long ways to make ramps and other creations. I never know what my kids are going to be inspired to do with them, but we’ll definitely be stocking up on some this summer.
Bubbles are another must-have on our summer list. They are an essential part of our summer play.
The large water sprayers are so much fun! In addition to spraying each other to cool off on long, hot summer days, my kids love to have contests to see who can spray the farthest or the highest. Some days they even “wash” the windows and water the plants for me using the water sprayers. 😉
All those brightly colored lawn decorations, hula hoops, beach balls, and buckets are great for creating outdoor obstacle courses. Some days during the summer I create the obstacle courses, and other days the kids design their own.
And one last item on our list will be some of those colorful flower leis. The girls love to wear them for pretend play, and we also get a lot of use out of them for crafting purposes. When disassembled, the flowers can be glued to beautiful kid art creations. They can also be set up with a tray of lanyard string and beads for the kids to practice lacing and making their own new leis.
What’s on your must-buy summer fun shopping list, and how will you be using it? I’d love to hear some new ideas in the comments below!

I looove the Dollar Tree. We can always find stuff there! One teacher blog I saw said she uses those l-o-n-g water rocket shooters (in your pic above) as pointers for Read The Room stuff—without the water, obviously. 🙂 Their length makes them better for reaching high things than traditional sized pointers.

Ooh, that sounds like a fun idea!
