Wizard Month for the Poppins Book Nook

The Poppins Book Nook theme for this month is wizards. I’d be fibbing if I said this was a theme I was ready for. We really don’t have a lot of wizard books in our collection, but I think that’s the fun part of participating in book clubs. We’re challenged to step outside our typical reading material and find new books to treasure…and I honestly wasn’t disappointed as I started doing some research on wizard books.

For this theme Lovey chose Doctor Witch’s Animal Hospital. It’s an early chapter book that is part of the I Am Reading series. We planned to read it over a couple of days, but Lovey wanted to keep going. We finished the whole book in one sitting. Then she asked to read it again and again…always my clue that the book deserves a follow up activity! Later this month we’ll share how this book inspired an afternoon of play and exploration.

Doctor Witch's Animal Hospital

Members of the Poppins Book Nook will be sharing their wizard inspired posts on Monday, April 29, 2013. Each participating blog will be choosing another book related to this theme. There  should be activities for kids of all ages!  We’ve also added a linky, so now you can share your ideas, too!

You can learn more about the Poppins Book Nook and some of the books that will be featured this month on our Facebook page.

Posts in this series will go live on the last Monday of every month.
