Our letter U theme was underground animals. Today I’m sharing some resources for teaching kids about underground animals.  There are teachers’ guides, book-related projects, crafts and a snack to give you a little inspiration for your own underground animal theme. If you have or know of any other ideas for this theme, I hope you’ll share them in the comments.

Activities and Ideas for Specific Underground Animals

There are many different animals that live underground. I didn’t attempt to include all of them here, but I did want to include a couple of ideas in case you want to do specific animal studies for your theme.

The series will be a little different from our previous alphabet series.  It will include three posts. In addition to this post, I will share a book list and one summary post of the activities we did.

Do you have any other ideas or activities related to underground animals? I would love for you to share them in the comments.

I love this use of the letter “U”. Umbrella and Umpire is all I could come up with. Underground animals is a lot more fun! Thanks for the post!

I was a bit stumped for the theme, too. Underwater can also be fun, but we were able to learn a lot with the underground theme.

Thank you! There weren’t too many options for letter U, and I thought this tied in well with the kids’ love of animals and science. I’m glad you like the idea, too!
