As we dive into our fall theme activities we like to explore color mixing and create fall tree art. In this stamped fall tree craft for kids we learn a bit about the parts of a tree and use a celery “tree’ to stamp paint. It’s a fun way to tie our learning together and get kids to try celery!

How to Make Stamped Fall Tree Craft for Kids
I like to start by discussing the parts of a tree. You can do this by taking a walk outside, looking at pictures, or reading books about trees.
Then I introduce a celery stalk and we compare our celery stalks to a real tree. Kids can easily spot some of the similarities. After this discussion I trim about 2 inches off the top of teach celery stalk to use as our “paintbrushes”. We save the remaining bits of the celery to have as a snack after the art project is finished.
(Quick note: If you choose not to use food in your learning activities you can do this activity by trimming tree branches and stamp painting with them instead.)
On a half sheet of card stock we use the celery paintbrushes to stamp paint the crown of our trees in red and yellow. As the kids stamp paint they get to see the colors mix to form orange.
If kids are able I let them cut out their own tree trunks for the craft. Remind them that all tree trunks are different in size and shape!
Finally we glue on the trunk and the crown of the tree. You can also add a few acorns collected from your nature walk if you’d like…maybe even a bit of grass!
