FOR HOME PRESCHOOL AND PRESCHOOL CLASSROOMS.
To create the invitation to play I set out the play dough with some loose parts that I grabbed from our craft supply. Use what you have if possible! We chose:
- A mixture of rhinestones
- Heart beads
- Colorful buttons from CraftProjectIdeas.com
- Chenille stems
- Straw bits
- Wooden beads
- Googly eyes
- Pony beads
When possible I like to tie in some reading to get kids thinking about our learning activity. These books would go along great with this snowman play dough invitation.
Kids won’t need a lot of direction. That’s the beauty of invitations to play! Let them get started and watch. Chat a little along the way if your kids seem interested in telling you about what they are creating.
Kids often approach play dough invitations differently. Some kids will roll the dough into balls. Others may create flat snowman. Welcome any creations!
Remember that play dough isn’t just for little ones. Older kids will likely add additional features like this chenille stem hat, and create their own unique stories and pretend play to go along with their creations.
To extend this play dough invitation even more, grab our free printable snowman shape mats and incorporate some early math skills.
