FROZEN Sing-Along Pretend Play Theater

We love to sing and dance together as a family. There are countless videos of the girls and me belting out silliness to prove it (but they are well hidden—so don’t even ask!). When I found out about this sponsored opportunity to learn more and share about the new full-length Frozen Sing-Along Edition, I knew it would be something we’d be thrilled to share with you!

When we first watched this NEW version of Frozen we all had fun following the bouncing Frozen snowflake as it highlights the words for each song. Secretly the teacher mom in me loves this incorporation of literacy even if the girls don’t even have a clue.

I could tell from that first viewing that we’d be watching this version many, many times as a family. It inspired me to create a little theater so we could sing-along and act out the DVD while our favorite Frozen toys become part of the live show in our living room, too.

You can make a theater that is as simple or as fancy as you’d like, but the goal here is to have fun together as a family. We started with a folding box, but any box large enough for your toy characters will do. The folding pieces allowed us to cut out rectangles that folded open on both sides to make the stage sturdier.

The girls never miss an opportunity to paint, so we painted the box blue and white.

Once it was dry we used a hot glue gun to attach light and dark blue sparkly tulle to the top of the box. We gathered a few pieces on both sides and twisted a few pieces to attach across the top. Then we used silver ribbon to tie the “curtains” on the sides.

Before putting the final touches on our theater, we watched the Frozen Sing-Along DVD again to decide what else we need to make our theater more like the scenes in the movie. The girls decided we definitely needed snow and ice. Along the bottom we placed large silver sequins, silver snowflakes and decorative white faux glass jewels. This “ice” was a big hit with the girls!

Then we grabbed our favorite Frozen toys, played the Frozen Sing-Along DVD and started the show! Can you guess which song they are singing here? I’ll give you a hint….those little mouths are saying, “gooooooooo!”

Let It Go sing-along

When they aren’t singing along to the DVD, the girls are also having a ton of fun acting out their own Frozen production with our theater. It’s been so much fun to see the creativity springboard off of what they know about the movie.
