Fine Motor Monster Cutting Freebie
This Fine Motor Monster Cutting Freebie includes printable monster “hair” cutting cards that can be printed on a variety of colored paper and three options of printable monster body decorating sheets.
It’s a bit like our shape monster collage art activity except here we’re really focusing in on using scissors to practice cutting in a playful way.
All you will need to complete this activity is scissors, glue and something to color in the pages such as markers or crayons. If you want to get even more crafty you can add in some extra embellishments, too.
Before giving the cutting sheets to kids cut apart the “hair” cards so there is one card on each section the child will hold. Then kids can freely cut “hair” in a variety of ways.
Don’t worry if they aren’t staying exactly on the lines. This is meant to be practice and learning to cut is hard work for little hands.
Also note that the cutting pages are offered in a variety of skill levels. For kids just beginning to cut stick to the sheets with straight lines. Offer slanted lines, then zig-zags and curves as kids get more skilled at cutting.
Once kids have cut the “hair” they can then get creative and design their monster in any way their little imaginations lead them.
If you’d like, you can provide extra items for kids to design their monster, such as googly eyes, cut-out construction paper facial features, pom poms and more.
Kids can also use a varitey of mediums to color their monster such as markers crayons, colored pencils and even paint.
With the multiple options available for hair and monster designs, there are endless possibilities for children to create many unique monsters. Kids will have so much fun creating their monsters all while building their fine motor skills!
