It’s the last day of our Fall Invitations to Play series with My Nearest and Dearest, Buggy and Buddy, Play Trains, and Twodaloo. But if you’ve enjoyed the series as much as we have, don’t worry! We just might come together to bring you another set of invitations to play later this year.

Today’s Fall Invitation to Play

This fall sticker scene invitation to create is great fine motor practice for preschoolers and older toddlers.

Invitation to Create-Fall Tree Sticker Scene

Materials

  • large piece of paper
  • brown paper (cut into the shape of a tree trunk and glued to the large paper)
  • fall themed foam stickers

Ways Children Might Use the Materials

Below is a brief list of skills kids might practice using these materials. However, as I watch kids interact with new invitations I am always impressed by their creativity in using materials in ways that I may never have thought of. This kind of free exploration is one of things I enjoy most about invitations to play.

  • Fine Motor
  • Creativity
  • Color Recognition
  • Counting
  • Patterning
  • Oral Language and Story Telling

Older kids might also want to do some writing to go along with their creations.

Tip: If younger kids have difficulty peeling off the backs of the stickers, you can get them started by starting to peel a small corner on each sticker before setting out this invitation to play.

Thanks for joining us for this week’s Fall Invitations to Play series. Don’t forget to stop by and see what the other members of the series have planned for you today.
