Fall Nature Collage Invitation to Create

This is the third day of our Fall Invitations to Play series with My Nearest and Dearest, Buggy and Buddy, Play Trains, and Twodaloo. I am loving all of the creative ideas shared by these ladies so far, aren’t you?

Today’s Fall Invitation to Play

Today we’re using the items from our fall play dough to set up an invitation to create with fall materials. This way we save preparation time and get multiple uses out of the same materials while promoting a different set of skills.

Invitation to Create-Fall Collage

Materials

  • colored paper
  • acorns
  • pumpkin seeds
  • leaves (Use real if you have them.)
  • small twigs
  • glue

Ways Children Might Use the Materials

Below is a brief list of skills kids might practice using these materials. However, as I watch kids interact with new invitations I am always impressed by their creativity in using materials in ways that I may never have thought of. This kind of free exploration is one of things I enjoy most about invitations to play.

  • Fine Motor
  • Creativity
  • Beginning math concepts like patterning and composing basic shapes
  • Oral Language and Story Telling

Now that you’ve seen today’s invitation to play, head on over and see what the other members of the series have planned for you. And don’t forget to look for tomorrow’s new invitation to play!

Love this idea! I’m a first year teacher working as the lead teacher in a Pre-Kindergarten classroom in North Carolina. I’ve been looking for some nice Fall theme ideas that aren’t too “teacher directed!”

We are so glad you enjoyed the series. We really had fun putting it together. You won’t have to wait too long for a new one…look for a Halloween series to start on Tuesday, Oct. 1st! I never thought of creating a button for it…maybe we’ll have to get a little organized and try that. 😉 Thanks for offering to share.

Thanks, Anna! It’s amazing how much we learn in a short time. I think photography has been the most fun to learn this past year of blogging…and I still only know very little about what I’m doing. 😉

This is so fun- my kids love collaging- the more glue, the better! And what a great way to reuse the materials from yesterday’s invitation!

My littlest is a glue-aholic, too! Half the time she is happy to use our glitter glue and colored glue bottles and nothing else.
