This set is designed for kindergarteners and first graders building on phonological awareness rhyming skills by adding in the phonics element of learning to recognize CVC words. If your students are not ready for this yet, then we recommend using the phonological awareness dominoes version.

This Rhyming Dominoes activity works great during small groups, in centers, or as an independent task any time of year.

CVC Phonics Rhyming Dominoes

Print out the dominoes. If you are going to make multiple sets, you may want to print them on colored paper or put a stamp/sticker on the pieces of the set to avoid mixing them up.

Laminate for extended use.

TO PLAY

Kids start with the green dot card.

Find the domino that has the rhyming object and place it in line with the first object.

Then, continue to match the dominoes end to end by rhyming pictures.

The activity is finished when they end up at the red dot.
