HOW TO PLAY
Attach the recording sheet to a clipboard, or skip it and have your kids place the paper on the table or floor. Then place the cards about at random, and encourage children to look throughout your home or classroom to find each letter provided in this free printable activity.
Trace and write each letter on the recording sheets provided. You can also laminate or add them to pouches to reuse and save paper.
Use the recording sheets to track which letters you’ve found. Have kids trace it on their scavenger hunt page as they find each letter. This can be done independently or with a helper.
TIPS AND IDEAS FOR USE
This is a great way to differentiate instruction easily. You can specifically target letters that you’re working on learning or practice the whole alphabet at once. All students do not need to work on the same letters simultaneously. When in doubt, start with the letters in the child’s name.
WAYS TO EXTEND LEARNING
- Use this as a whole or small group activity. You (or another student) pull a card from a stack and show it to students. Then, students find the letter on their recording sheet.
- Display the letters around the room. Then, use it as a literacy center option where students find the letters around the room and fill out their response sheets.
- If you let kids gather the letters, have them display them again for the next group. You can easily differentiate this option by having kids use different response sheet options.
- Use them as a deck of cards face down and have kids pull from the stack to mark the letter they’ve found on their sheet.
- Create a small sensory bin with your favorite sensory materials and the included letter cards for kids to collect and mark off on their papers.
- Send home the response sheet you choose to use as a homework activity or extra practice option
