ABC App~Avokiddo ABC Ride

Learning the alphabet is an important beginning reading skill, and there are many fun ways to help young kids learn the ABCs. One way kids love practicing the alphabet is through technology. Today’s sponsored post is all about a wonderful ABC app that my kids love.

Fun ABC App for Kids~Avokiddo ABC RideAvokiddo ABC Ride takes you on a journey through the alphabet. Each stop along the way engages young kids in interactive scenes that involve logic, letters, sounds, spelling, challenging vocabulary, and more. The app has been featured in the App Store on the Kids Main Banner and “Best for Ages 5 & Under” in more than 25 countries including the US and Australia. It has also been featured in major news outlets like USA Today.

Avokiddo ABC RideWhile Avokiddo ABC Ride does a fantastic job of helping kids learn to recognize letters and sounds, it is definitely not “just” an ABC app. There is so much more than ABCs built into each of the 26 interactive scenes.

In the game kids join Beck and Bo for a bike ride. As they travel their job is to uncover all the hidden letters of the alphabet. They’ll use logic to solve puzzles as they extract the E from an egg and recreate a robot to release the R.  Each new scene presents a new challenge and fun ways to explore the target letter.

ABC app-Avokiddo-abc-ride-RobotWe really liked the wide variety of themes included throughout the app, and each scene was challenging without being too difficult for my 3 and 5 year old. It’s a game that will keep their attention for quite some time.

And at each stop they’ll drag and drop letters to spell a new word. As they drag and drop each letter they’ll hear either the letter or sound associated with the letter. In the settings section, parents can choose between upper and lowercase letters and hearing the letter name or sound.

Avokiddo-abc-ride-spellingKids have the option to travel through all 26 scenes in alphabetical order, select random order, or simply choose a target letter they want to visit.

You can see the app in action in this video.

As a former kindergarten teacher I love to see all the ways the app associates the focus letter with different words. The use of alliteration and the inclusion of a wide variety of nouns, verbs, and adjectives really gives kids the opportunity to make a lot of associations between the letter, sound and different vocabulary.

I also really appreciate the rich vocabulary chosen throughout the app. A isn’t just for apple. It’s also for apricot, appear, acquire, applause and attention.  Exposing kids to higher level vocabulary in such a playful and fun way is excellent.

In addition to all of the literacy skills incorporated into Avokiddo ABC Ride, each scene also highlights another preschool skill.  Along their ride kids will also do activities related to shapes, colors, sorting and matching.

Overall, this ABC app packs a whole lot of learning into a very fun game, and my kids love it. They’re learning a lot, but don’t tell them…they think they’re “just playing.”

If you’re looking for a fun way to introduce your little ones to the alphabet and challenging vocabulary, you can purchase the Avokiddo ABC Ride app for iPhone and iPad via iTunes.  You can also find out more about Avokiddo ABC Ride and the other Avokiddo apps on the Avokiddo website.

As mentioned above this is a sponsored post on behalf of Avokiddo ABC Ride. All opinions are my own and based on our experience with the app.
