Helloooo, September! While we are nowhere near cooler temperatures down here in Florida, September always brings with it the hope that the staggering heat will at least subside. And of course there are apples and pumpkins popping up everywhere, so at least we can pretend fall is here! Whether you’re pretending like us or you actually experience real season changes in your area, our roll and color apple math activities go along with many preschool learning themes this month. This is the newest set in our roll and color math games series, and you can use it for back to school, an apple theme, letter A activities, or a general fall theme. As in all of our roll and color math games sets kids get the opportunity to practice various preschool through first grade math skills in a fun hands-on way.
We couldn’t do a full year of roll and color math games without including an apple theme. Later this month we’ll be releasing another fall version for you pumpkin fans too. This free printable excerpt from the full apple math games set can be used to practice identifying 2D shapes.
Our math games sets can be used in a few ways depending on your preferences. If you’d like kids to have something to take home, grab some crayons and let them color the game sheets.
If you’d like to use the set over and over again you can use manipulatives like small pom poms, buttons, glass beads, mini erasers or another related manipulative to cover the correct numbers as you play. You could also use sheet protectors and dry erase markers.
We chose to pull out some mini apples that we have on hand. We’ve used them over and over again for years in other math activities, play dough invitations, fine motor activities, sensory bins and more.
In this free printable set you get a game board and game cube to practice identifying 2D shapes. These skills are most appropriate for preschool and kindergarten students. If you’d like to practice other skills or need more options for differentiating instruction then the full 29 page game set may be best for your needs.
