    These are some great ideas! I wish my child were old enough to start some of these kinds of activities. I have an engineering degree and I loved these types of things as a kid! Another idea is to use play and straws, or spaghetti and marshmallows like tinker toys and try to build the tallest structure you can. Have them play with different base shapes (pyramid with triangular and square base, squares, polygons) to see what is the most stable.

      Great suggestion! We like to use gumdrops in place of the marshmallows for that STEM challenge. We find they make for a more sturdy structure.
