My kids find coral reefs fascinating. The colors, the creatures, the activity, they can sit and read, watch or explore this theme for hours. After reading some books recently about life in a coral reef we set up this play dough activity for the girls to act out their own coral reef adventures.

Materials
Usually we make our own play dough but we received a set of Play-Doh from some friends recently that was perfect of this activity, so we put it to good use.
-
- Store bought Play-Doh or homemade play dough made from a recipe in The Homemade Play Dough Recipe Book
- Coral Reef Toob
- Aquarium jewels and pebbles
- Neon chenille stems cut into halves and quarters
Both girls started by creating a small separate space for their individual coral reefs.
They spent time decorating their reefs, adding creatures, coral, shells and more.
Once they added all the details they wanted the story telling and pretend play began. Their creatures swam from coral reef to coral reef visiting one another and making new friends.
This is a great play dough invitation to set up at home or school during an ocean or summer theme. For more play dough inspiration, you can find all of our play dough invitations here.
